  1. I used to think about Internet addiction a lot when I was younger, in middle school-ish. Probably because my mom forced me to limit my online time when I started using Neopets (throwback!!) in 5th grade.
At one time, though, I think I did experience some symptoms of IAD. I would lose track of time constantly from being on Neopets and MySpace so much. And I often did feel guilty about the mass amount of time I would spend on the Internet.
Now, I simply don't have time to be addicted to the Internet, I have so much going on with school and life in general!

  2. When I first got a Facebook, I felt like I always wanted to check if I had notifications! So was I addicted? I don't know if it was that bad but I definitely signed on maybe once a day. I think now that I'm older and busier, Facebook doesn't mean as much to me. I rarely get on, maybe a couple times a week. Other than Facebook, I use the internet for homework. Other than that, I don't really use the internet at all.

  3. Everyone overuses products when they first come out, but being on Facebook or Twitter for hours on end is not what the site was intended for. These sites are not supposed to take over your life, they are supposed to make life easier by keeping in contact with people you know, whether they live down the street or across the pond. Personally I cannot even see why or how you would become addicted to the internet? But everyone is different, and people are sad. I never really thought about this being a problem before, aside from pornography. Our world is being pushed to excessive internet use at the daily life level, but allowing this to completely take over is nonsense. Take control of your actions and life and get off the internet, there is a big beautiful world out there in need of exploring.

  4. I would not say that I am addicted to the internet, I have far more things to do with my time than sit on the computer for 8 hours a day. But I do use the internet as a great procrastination tool. Whenever I need to get work done, I can sit down and get it done (computer closed if necessary). Many times though, I really just need a distraction or a quick 10 minute break from studying, and there my internet use comes into play.

In college, we really don't have time for internet addictions if we are really getting whatever tasks we need to complete, finished. So many times though our homework, test reviews, study guides, etc. are online so it is so easy to click over to Facebook or Twitter for a quick five minutes to see what's going on.

  5. I completely agree, yesterday all of my classes were held in the computer labs in friday building.. I sat somewhat towards the back of the classroom and pretty much just watched majority of the class play on twitter and facebook. I agree that the lectures going on were pretty boring, but really, couldn't going on these sites wait until later? I never go on these sites during class periods. I guess I'm not that addicted, but it drives me nuts, when there are people constantly just playing on facebook and I'm trying really hard to pay attention and they get the same, if not better grades than me.
